Sorang Hydro Power Project

 Project Overview
 

IL&FS Engineering Services, in a Joint Venture is developing Sorang Hydro Power Project (SHPP) in Himachal Pradesh across Sorang Khad, a tributary to river Satluj on BOOT basis under the policy of private sector participation in implementation of power projects. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) called Himachal Sorang Power Pvt. Ltd. (HSPPL) has been promoted along with Nagarjuna Construction Co. Ltd., & SSJV Projects Pvt. Ltd. for setting up of this 100 MW run-of-river hydro project in Himachal Pradesh state of the North India.

Sorang Khad originates near the high peaks of a mountain called Kokshane (5625 mt) of the Himalayas; about 20 Km North-West of Village Sorang, in Nichar Taluk, of Kinnaur District in the State of Himachal Pradesh and flows for about 26 Km in south direction before joining Satluj river on its right bank, near Nigulsari village.

 
 Cost and Timeline
 
The total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 580 crores. The estimated construction schedule is three years and the project is expected to commence commercial operations in 2010.
