Hyderabad, 4th March 2008: IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Limited, a Hyderabad based construction and infrastructure development Company is celebrating Safety Week nationally at all its 40 sites spread across the country from 4th March 2008 to 10th March 2008. Marking the commencement of Safety Week and 37th National Safety Day, Company organized a Safety Drill at their project site - Hill County today to demonstrate the safety measures for the workers while working at heights and rescue measures in case of emergency. The drill also demonstrated various fall protection systems in place at the sites. The event started with Flag Hoisting at the site followed by the Safety Drill organized by trained professionals for the workmen. During this Safety Week, Company will be organizing lot of activities and training programmes like Safety training programs, Safety demonstrations in labor camps, Safety slogan contest, Safety poster contest and Selection of the Safe Man. Maytas Infra which is committed to the Safety and Health of its employees and environment is conducting this Safety Week to take a well defined consistent message of safety across all its sites. In February 2008, Buildings & Structures (B&S) division of Maytas Infra completed 54, 99,616(5.4 million) safe man-hours work on its projects at different locations across India. As a part of the safety management system, Maytas Infra is working to get OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupation Health Safety Assessment Services) specification. It is intended to help them control occupational health and safety risks further. OHSAS compliance requirements are No Child Labour, No Forced Labour, Clean & Safe Environment among others.
